The businesses that rely on tourism as a compensation by taking the drastic drop in the numbers are people pulling on certain parts of the country this summer. As usual, there is a reading of the story itself different entities active in tourism.
Temple Bar, Dublin
State agencies are saying that this year has increased the number of tourists, but probably do not believe that anyone and, in fact, there is no effective system to measure growth or rights figures available.
The publican is hailing a decline in visitor numbers and putting down the ban on smoking in the workplace was implemented in March this year. Again, there is no evidence that this is so. People will say you're a karaoke often this reduction does not appear and you would not expect, or really, especially when you take into account that they are now attracting people who would not go near a previous pub because of the smoke.
There is certainly publicans complained about the new law on preventing young people under eighteen to be inside a house ale after nine o'clock at night. The government should amend the law and allow your children to be then - during the school holidays anyway.
Has fallen in the number of tourists in the traditional tourist areas Killarney
There is much more fundamental reasons that the number of tourists has fallen this year. The best marketing in any business, and especially in tourism, than you have to keep customers happy. If they're happy, they pillfidh and, equally important, they tell their friends about the holiday they had.
Are we doing to keep our customers happy? Certainly not.
If one goes to Temple Bar in Dublin, for example, pay € 4.50 for a bottle of beer without alcohol and at least the same amount of beer ghnáthphionta. He paid € 150 for a hotel room not even a third of it, and it will pay € 25 if he wishes to get a taxi to the airport. We do not own, or drawing visitors to the country, getting value for our money.
There are thousands of Irish going abroad on holiday each year, to the south of Spain or Italy, for example. They can flights, accommodation, food and drinks for two weeks to get the same price would be weeks at home - not to mention the good weather. This is one of the main reasons that fall in tourism revenue. Can not blame people from abroad several times a year if they afford it.
There is a significant decline in the yield in the traditional tourist areas of Killarney. These areas are subject to many Americans Gael and Maureen O'Hara leanúa audience, John Huston and Barry Fitzgerald (The Quiet Man, etc.). Few of the tourists now exists and, therefore, we must try to develop other markets.
Before focusing on the market, must decide which product is being sold. How can the tourism product to compete with France, Spain, Italy or even London? No responses at the community tourism strategy and, to that, we will not make progress.
Certainly not places like Temple Bar, with pints € 4.50, which will help us develop the industry.
